Sideline is paid for (or piloted) one season at a time, so a team has a life: the season, a month to wrap up, then a year where everyone can still watch and download.
The month after the last game
When a team's season ends (or its last playoff game, if the league extended it), everything keeps working for 30 more days. Coaches see a reminder at the top of the team page with the date uploads and tagging close, and get an email two weeks before. Use the time to clip the last games and finish tagging and awards, so every player's reel is complete.
Read-only
Thirty days after the season, the team becomes read-only:
- Everyone on the team can still watch every game, clip, reel, award and photo, and download them.
- Nothing new can be added: no games, uploads, Clip film, photos, tagging, awards, roster changes or invites.
- Coaches can still hide a clip from parents (Coach only) or delete a clip or photo, and families can still ask for something of their child to be removed.
Families get an email that day reminding them to download their player's clips. Open Players, pick your player, and use Download on anything you want to keep.
How long it's kept
A read-only team stays watchable and downloadable for a year after the season ends. When the league (or the team) signs up for another season, every past season is kept another year, so returning families build up years of film.
If nobody renews, everyone on the team gets an email two months and two weeks before the videos and photos are removed. After that the team is closed.
Next season (teams on their own)
If you asked for your team yourself, you're its owner, and Team settings has a Your season section. To keep going next year, fill in Next season with the new dates. Each season is its own team, so Sideline sets up a new one for you; tick Bring this season's roster and Bring this season's coaches if they're staying. Once it's set up, this season is kept another year too.
Ownership in the same place hands the team to another coach, say when you step back and an assistant takes over.
Need more time?
League admins can extend a team's season for playoffs (up to six weeks) on the Season tab of the league console. For anything else, a coach running late, an unusual season, email team@sidelinemoments.com and Sideline can reopen the team for a while.
