The basics
What is Sideline?
Sideline is a web-based film room for youth sports leagues, football first. Coaches clip and tag game film in the browser; every player gets a highlight reel, photos, and helmet-sticker awards; families watch and keep them. It is sold to leagues as a per-player bundle and run for teams by their coaches.
Which sports does Sideline support?
Tackle and flag football today. The same model, mark a moment, tag the kids, award the sticker, applies to soccer, basketball, lacrosse, and hockey, and those come next as leagues ask.
Is there an app?
Sideline runs in the browser on a Mac or Windows computer for clipping, and on any phone or tablet for watching. There is nothing to install. A mobile capture app is on the roadmap.
What does Sideline cost?
Leagues pay per registered player per season and bundle it into registration. The first season for a league is free. Teams whose league hasn’t signed on can start on their own; talk to us.
Film and clipping
Do we need a special camera?
No. Any recording that plays in a browser works: a phone on a tripod, a GoPro, or an AI camera like XbotGo, Veo, or Trace.
Does the full game get uploaded?
No. The recording stays on the coach’s computer. Only the clipped plays upload, typically 15 to 25 MB each.
How long does it take to clip a game?
About 20 minutes for a full game once you’ve done one. Marking is two keys, I and O, while the game plays at 2 to 4x.
How exact are the clips?
Exact to the frame you marked, cut with your computer’s hardware encoder. A Fast mode that copies the video untouched is also available and can start up to a second early on cameras with sparse keyframes.
Can two coaches clip the same game?
Yes. Marks save to the account as they’re made and merge play by play, so an assistant can pick up where the head coach left off, from another computer.
Privacy and safety
Who can see my child?
Only the coaches and invited parents on your team. There is no public feed and no way to search for a player from outside the team.
Do kids have accounts?
No. Adults hold every account. Children never log in and Sideline collects nothing from them directly.
Does Sideline use facial recognition?
No, and it won’t. Players are identified by jersey number, tagged by a coach or parent.
Can I get my child’s clips and photos removed?
Yes. Ask your coach or email team@sidelinemoments.com and it comes down. Parents can delete photos they uploaded themselves.
Where is the data stored?
On Amazon Web Services in the United States. Video is private, served only through short-lived signed links to signed-in team members.
How is consent handled?
For leagues, a sentence in the registration waiver covers filming and private sharing for the season. For a single team, the coach confirms families are on board before inviting them. See the privacy policy.
Accounts and access
How do parents get access?
The coach or league invites them by email. They set a password, add their name and which player is theirs, and they’re in.
Can I download clips and photos?
Yes, at full quality, any time.
What happens when the season ends, or if a league doesn’t renew?
A month after a team’s last game (or last playoff game), uploading and tagging close and the team becomes read-only. Everyone on the team keeps watching and downloading for a year after the season, and when the league signs up again, every past season is kept another year. We email families before anything is removed, and a league can request a full export. Nothing is held hostage.
Bring Sideline to your league this season.
